3 weeks ago our neighbours had their second child, a cute little girl named Zélia. She’s a beautiful child and I think it’s very special for us to be able to see our neighbours settling in to their new life with their brand new baby. Of course I made them a kraammand. I don’t know if this is a typical Dutch tradition, but I really like it. The idea is to give the newborn family 8 gifts, one for eacht day of the first 8 days with the baby.
I filled our kraammand with these gifts:
- 4 delicious brownies, to ease the broken nights a bit
- a tiny little onesie with Zélia’s name on it
- a BoobyTag, to help out with breastfeeding
- a race car (for the big 3 yo brother!)
- a BinkyBaby Koos, to help babies finding back their pacifiers easily,
- a mini photoframe (for the proud dad, to put on the dashboard, or in his office)
- a CD by Esther Phillips (very easy listening vintage soul music)
- a bright orange babysuit by DiscoDip (cause mommy doesn’t like pink on girls!)
I found the basket in a thrift shop and decorated it with a personalised baby banner with Zélia’s name on it, to make it extra cute. (I’m sorry for using the word cute so often, but, well, a newborn baby girl simply is cute…)
